What GardenLab is
A web application for recording, planning and looking up plants in a garden. It runs in your browser, stores your garden on your device, and optionally keeps a copy online. It is provided by Hernan Pisano ("GardenLab", "I") from Irvington, New York.
Plant identification and plant facts are not advice
An identification is a suggestion about a photograph. It can be wrong. Never eat, handle, plant near children or animals, or treat with anything on the basis of an identification or a fact shown in GardenLab. Confirm with a qualified person or a reference you trust.
Facts in the plant library are drawn from named sources and may contain errors or be out of date. Fit assessments describe how a plant's stated needs compare to the conditions you entered for a bed; they are not a guarantee the plant will live or die there.
Your data and your responsibility for it
- What you build in GardenLab is yours. GardenLab claims no rights over it beyond what is needed to run the service you asked for, as described in the privacy policy.
- By default your garden exists only in your browser. If you clear browser data, lose the device, or the browser evicts the storage, the garden is gone. Use the app's backup export, or keep the garden online, if that matters to you.
- If you keep a garden online, whoever can sign in as your email address, by the code sent to it or through your Google account, can access the garden. There is no password. Keep that mailbox and that account secure.
- Do not upload photographs of people, or of property that is not yours to photograph, or content you do not have the right to use.
Third-party services
When you identify a plant, ask a question, look up climate, or keep a garden online, data passes to the providers named in the privacy policy. Their services are subject to their own terms. GardenLab does not control them and is not responsible for their availability or their results.
No warranty
GardenLab is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. It may be unavailable, change, or be discontinued. To the fullest extent permitted by law, GardenLab is not liable for any loss arising from its use or from reliance on anything it shows, including loss of data and loss of plants.
Acceptable use
Do not use GardenLab to harm others, to send unlawful content through it, to overload or probe its servers, or to extract its plant library or identification service for redistribution. GardenLab may refuse or end service to anyone who does.
Age
You must be 18 or older to keep a garden online. The app may otherwise be used by anyone, under the supervision of an adult where the law requires it.
Changes and law
These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them, and continued use after a change means acceptance. They are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of Westchester County, New York, unless the law where you live gives you a right to something else.
